PROBLEM STATEMENT:
Many children with neuromuscular disorders in India lack access to affordable respiratory support, including sleep studies and home ventilator machines, which are critical for survival and quality of life.
CURRENT STATUS:
We currently help over 25 children with neuromuscular disease (NMD) and provide home ventilation support
(Few children receive disease modifying therapy for SMA -costs vary from 6 lakhs every month to 16 crores. We have 78 such children. All require BIPAP support pre and post therapy)
The demand is growing, but many families cannot afford these life-saving interventions.
WHAT WE NEED:
- Support with BIPAP machines. We start 25 new patients on BIPAP every month.
- We run a rental system via which families in need can rent out machines for short periods until they are able to buy their own machines
- Starting a BIPAP bank will help us hand these machines out to those who are in dire need, but also help support patients while they accumulate funds
- We need funding for 25 machines to begin with and we are happy to share details of the recipients with you
